Additional information

Macao's lunar gold issues are struck under contract by external mints rather than a local facility — the territory has no mint of its own. The 2013 Snake issue falls within a series that began gaining serious collector traction after the 2002 handover consolidation of Macao's currency authority, when the AMCM rebranded as the current issuing body. Demand is predominantly regional, driven by Southeast Asian buyers for whom the snake year carries particular cultural weight tied to cycles of wisdom and renewal in the Chinese zodiac.

KM#167 is a low-mintage issue by any standard for the series.
