Bhutan has operated a small but deliberate commemorative program since the early 1970s, frequently issuing coins with no domestic circulation intent — produced entirely for the international collector market. This Senna piece appeared a full decade after his death at Imola on 1 May 1994, part of a broader wave of motorsport commemoratives that flooded the numismatic market through the late 1990s and 2000s as licensing rights to his image were actively managed by the Senna Foundation.
KM# 105 is one of several Bhutanese issues from this period struck to standard one-ounce silver specifications by contracted European mints on behalf of the Royal Monetary Authority.
