| Aanvullende informatie |
Romania's 1935 coinage program under Carol II operated under the shadow of the king's authoritarian consolidation — he had dissolved the constitution and established his royal dictatorship just three years earlier. The 250 Lei denomination occupied an awkward middle tier in a currency system still recovering from the severe inflation that had gutted the Leu after World War I, when the currency lost roughly 75% of its prewar value against gold.
KM#53 is occasionally found with uneven luster across the fields, a known characteristic of the Bucharest mint's production tolerances in this period rather than post-strike handling.
