Obverse description Intaglio portrait of Jean-Jacques Dessalines (1758–1806) at centre-left, in military uniform with epaulettes and bicorne hat, his name and dates inscribed below. A vignette to the right depicts a historical scene with figures and a tropical landscape as underprint. The denomination '250' appears in large numerals at upper right alongside the written values in French and Haitian Creole, with a vertical security thread and a coloured holographic flag patch at the right margin.
