备注	The Mandats Territoriaux were introduced in March 1796 as a direct replacement for the collapsed Assignats, which had hyperinflated into near-worthlessness after years of revolutionary war financing. The mandat was nominally backed by nationalized church and émigré lands — the biens nationaux — and was supposed to be exchangeable at fixed prices for specific parcels of property. In practice, the redemption mechanism failed almost immediately, and the mandats lost 97% of their face value within months of issue. The entire series was demonetized by February 1797, giving the currency a lifespan of under a year.
