The Eurafrique program was a short-lived cooperative framework promoted in the early 1970s to formalize economic integration between the European Economic Community and newly independent African states. Several Francophone West African nations issued commemorative gold pieces under this banner, Senegal among them. The coins were largely prestige items aimed at foreign collectors rather than domestic circulation, produced in small quantities through arrangements with European minting facilities.
KM#7 is seldom encountered raw; most surviving examples were sold in original packaging and stayed there.
