Beschrijving voorzijde The national coat of arms of Senegal occupies the centre of the rectangular field, featuring a quartered shield with a lion passant and a baobab tree, flanked by two laurel branches and surmounted by a five-pointed star. The motto scrolls 'UN PEUPLE', 'UNE FOI', and 'UN BUT' appear on the shield and wreath. The legend 'REPUBLIQUE DU SENEGAL' is inscribed in two lines across the upper field, and the denomination '250 FRANCS CFA' is positioned along the lower edge. The design is rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished gold field, consistent with proof-quality production.

Aanvullende informatie

Senegal has no historical or monetary connection to the White Horse of Hanover — this is a bullion piece issued under a licensing arrangement that allows small African CFA-zone states to produce gold fractionals sold exclusively to the European collector market. The BCEAO, which governs CFA franc monetary policy for the West African Economic and Monetary Union, permits member states to authorize such issues without the coins entering domestic circulation.

The House of Hanover's heraldic white horse became the symbol of the British Hanoverian monarchs after George I's accession in 1714, carried through to George III and beyond.
