Senegal issues coins under the Banque Centrale des États de l'Afrique de l'Ouest framework, but this piece was produced for the collector market through arrangements with European minting distributors — it has no meaningful circulation history in Senegal or anywhere in the BCEAO zone. The 250 Francs CFA denomination itself exists largely as a notional unit for these fractional gold issues; standard circulating BCEAO coinage stops at 500 Francs.
