| Beschrijving voorzijde | The national coat of arms of Senegal is displayed at centre, featuring a shield divided into two quarters with a lion passant and a baobab tree, flanked by two olive branches and surmounted by a five-pointed star. The motto scrolls 'UN PEUPLE', 'UNE FOI', and 'UN BUT' appear on the shield's wreath and ribbon respectively. The legend 'RÉPUBLIQUE DU SÉNÉGAL' arcs along the upper periphery in raised Latin letters. The denomination '250 FRANCS CFA' is inscribed in the lower field beneath the arms. A decorative rosette device appears between the coat of arms and the denomination. |

This piece is one of several dozen similar micro-gold issues released under West African CFA franc branding but bearing no meaningful connection to Senegal — the country functions here as a licensing convenience for a European bullion and novelty coin producer. The Falkland Islands wolf, Dusicyon australis, was the only native land mammal of the Falkland Islands and was extinct by 1876, hunted out by settlers who feared for their livestock.
Darwin encountered it during the Beagle voyage and reportedly noted its fatal lack of fear toward humans.
