Obverse description The national coat of arms of Senegal occupies the central field, depicting a quartered shield surmounted by a five-pointed star, flanked by symmetrical laurel branches and supported by an eagle displayed at the base. The legend RÉPUBLIQUE DU SÉNÉGAL arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 250 FRANCS CFA is inscribed along the lower rim. Additional information

Senegal has not issued its own coinage since joining the West African CFA franc zone — all circulating currency is produced by the BCEAO on behalf of eight member states collectively. This piece exists entirely outside that system, struck for the international collector market by a private mint operating under a licensing arrangement rather than any central bank mandate. The "250 Francs CFA" denomination is a legal fiction; no such coin circulates in Dakar or anywhere else.
