Obverse description Central field features a circular cartouche enclosing the denomination numeral '٢٥٠' (250) above the Arabic word 'فلساً' (Fils). Flanking the cartouche in the lower field are two crossed agricultural sprigs — a wheat ear to the left and a date palm frond to the right — symbolising Iraq's agricultural wealth as part of the FAO theme. The upper field carries a bold Arabic calligraphic legend reading 'الجمهورية العراقية' (Republic of Iraq) arching across the field. The coin is struck in high relief with a denticled border encircling the entire design.

Reverse description The reverse presents a finely engraved scene of three tall date palm trees in the foreground, their fronds spreading gracefully and clusters of fruit visible at the crowns, evoking the abundance of Iraqi agriculture in support of the FAO campaign. Extending into the background on both sides are rows of smaller date palms, suggesting a cultivated plantation landscape rendered in detailed relief. The dual date appears in the field to either side of the central palm: the Christian year '١٩٧٠' (1970) to the left and the Hijri year '١٣٩٠' (1390) to the right. A denticled border surrounds the entire composition, and the lettered edge carries the FAO inscription repeated three times in relief.
