| 裏面の説明 | The reverse presents a central globe displaying a latitudinal and longitudinal grid, upon which the denomination '250 Euro' is boldly inscribed in two lines. Surrounding the globe is a decorative frieze of symbolic vignettes representing modern European achievements and daily life, including wind turbines, a high-speed train, residential architecture, a satellite dish, and a group of stylized human figures, all arranged in a continuous band encircling the globe. The commemorative legend '10 ANS DE L'EURO' arcs across the upper field, while the dates '2002' and '2012' flank a central motif at the lower portion of the field, marking the tenth anniversary of euro cash circulation. The engraver's initials 'A.H.' appear in the lower right field. |

Issued to mark the tenth anniversary of euro banknotes and coins entering circulation on January 1, 2002, this piece was struck by the Monnaie de Paris as part of France's ongoing prestige bullion program. The 2002 changeover itself was one of the largest currency transitions in history, with roughly 7.4 billion banknotes and 38 billion coins introduced across twelve countries in a matter of weeks — a logistical undertaking that required years of parallel planning alongside the outgoing national currencies.
The 62.208g weight is no accident: it corresponds to two troy ounces of fine gold.
