Obverse description The obverse displays the Singapore state coat of arms in high relief at center, featuring a lion passant and a tiger as supporters flanking a shield charged with a crescent moon and five stars, with a scroll below bearing the national motto MAJULAH SINGAPURA. The legend SINGAPURA arcs along the upper rim, flanked on the left by the Tamil inscription சிங்கப்பூர் and on the right by the Chinese characters 新加坡. The date 2001 and the English legend SINGAPORE appear in the lower field beneath the arms, rendered against a deeply mirrored proof field.
