| Obverse description | The full achievement of the coat of arms of Belize occupies the central field, featuring a quartered shield bearing crossed tools and a sailing vessel, flanked by two woodcutters as supporters, each holding an axe. A mahogany tree surmounts the shield as a crest. A scroll beneath the shield bears the national motto SUB UMBRA FLOREO. The date 1978 appears below the coat of arms, with the fineness inscription 900/1000 FINE GOLD struck in small characters beneath it. The denomination TWO HUNDRED FIFTY DOLLARS and the country name BELIZE are inscribed along the outer legend, with a beaded border encircling the entire design. |
