Canada's lunar series kilobar coins are minted in very limited quantities — typically a few hundred pieces globally — and the 2017 Rooster issue is no exception. The Royal Canadian Mint's .9999 fine silver specification places it among the purest large-format bullion coins in production anywhere, a standard the RCM has maintained consistently since pushing beyond the conventional .999 threshold in the 2000s.
The Rooster holds the tenth position in the twelve-year Chinese zodiac cycle. Those born in 1957, 1969, 1981, or 1993 fall under it.
