Niue's legal tender gold issues are a licensing vehicle, pure and simple — the island nation's arrangement allows private mints to attach Cook Islands-adjacent Pacific sovereignty to collector products with no meaningful connection to Niuean monetary history. This piece commemorates Disney's 1928 short The Gallopin' Gaucho, Mickey Mouse's second theatrical release and the middle entry in the three-film debut series, released the same year as Steamboat Willie but now largely overshadowed by it.
The Perth Mint struck this under license. One troy ounce, .9999 fine.
