The "Canadian Coin Collection" kilo series was part of the Royal Canadian Mint's ongoing effort to showcase its .9999 fine silver refining capability — among the highest purities achieved in mass-produced bullion-adjacent collectibles anywhere in the world. Canada's ability to produce silver at that fineness at kilogram scale is a direct product of its integrated mining-to-mint supply chain, particularly output from Ontario and British Columbia operations.
At 102.1 mm across, the planchet tolerances required for a coin of this diameter and mass demand striking pressures that most sovereign mints cannot sustain without purpose-built hydraulic presses.
