Obverse description The obverse features the right-facing draped effigy of Queen Elizabeth II as designed by Susanna Blunt, with the Queen shown wearing a pearl necklace and earrings and her hair styled in an upswept coiffure. The engraver's initials 'SB' appear at the base of the truncation. The legend 'ELIZABETH II' arcs along the upper left rim, while '250 DOLLARS' appears at the upper right and 'D·G·REGINA' descends vertically along the right rim. The date '2014' is inscribed along the lower rim, and the field is subtly decorated with an interlocking circular guilloche pattern.
