| 裏面の説明 | A seated allegorical female figure, radiate-crowned and draped in classical robes, occupies the central field in a composition closely reproducing the design of the French Trade Dollar (Piastre de commerce). She is seated facing slightly left, holding aloft a spear or fasces in her raised right hand and resting her left arm upon an anchor at her side; wheat sheaves appear in the left field. The legend THE EAST INDIA COMPANY arcs across the upper portion of the inner circle, with TRADE DOLLAR inscribed in the lower arc, all framed by a beaded inner border and the same Greek-key meander decorative border as the obverse. |
