Part of the RCM's "Connecting a Nation" series, this kilo piece was issued in a strictly limited mintage of 500 pieces — a number that has held firm on the secondary market, where examples surface rarely. The Royal Canadian Mint began producing large-format kilo silver coins in earnest during the early 2010s, positioning them explicitly as collector objects rather than anything approaching circulating currency, which freed the engravers from the design constraints that govern everyday coinage.
At .9999 fineness, this sits among the purest large silver strikes the RCM has produced commercially.
