| 正面铭文 | ELIZABETH II·PITCAIRN ISLANDS 250 DOLLARS |
| 背面描述 | A detailed depiction of a full-rigged sailing vessel under full sail occupies the central field, representing HMS Bounty, the ship associated with the mutiny whose survivors founded the Pitcairn Islands settlement. A small rowing boat with figures is shown in the foreground waters beneath the ship, emphasizing the historical maritime theme. The curved legend 'DRAFTING OF CONSTITUTION' arcs around the upper periphery, with the commemorative date range '1838–1988' inscribed at the upper right, marking the 150th anniversary of the drafting of the Pitcairn Islands Constitution. The design is executed in high relief against a deeply mirrored proof field. |

Pitcairn's 1988 gold issue commemorates the drafting of the island's first formal constitution, which came into force that same year after years of negotiation with the British government. The document was notable for formalizing governance over a community of fewer than 60 people — one of the smallest permanent populations of any self-governing territory on earth. Administration had previously operated under a patchwork of colonial ordinances dating to the 1940s.
Struck for collector export rather than any local economy — Pitcairn has no circulating coinage — this piece was produced in extremely limited quantities reflecting the island's negligible collector base and the high unit cost of small-run gold production.
