| 裏面の説明 | A dynamic full-length figure of a male discus thrower is depicted in mid-release, posed to the right within a circular design element representing the throwing circle. To the right of the athlete, the Roman numeral XIII identifies the edition of the Commonwealth Games. The legend COMMONWEALTH GAMES arcs across the upper periphery, while the denomination 250 DOLLARS is inscribed along the lower border, all set against a polished proof field with a beaded rim. |

The 1986 Commonwealth Games were held in Edinburgh — the first time Scotland hosted the event — and were overshadowed by a politically charged boycott led by 32 African, Asian, and Caribbean nations protesting Margaret Thatcher's refusal to impose economic sanctions on apartheid South Africa. Barbados was among the boycotting nations, making this commemorative issue a curious artifact: a coin celebrating Games that Barbados itself declined to attend.
