This piece recreates the legendary 100-ducat gold strike of Bohemian Duke Spytihněv II, originally minted in the mid-11th century — one of the earliest and most celebrated large-format gold coinages associated with the Bohemian lands. The modern restrike program, issued under Niue's authority as a Pacific territory with the right to produce legal-tender coinage, allowed the Czech mint to produce collectible restrikes with international monetary status. Niue has long served this function for Central European mint programs seeking a recognized issuing framework.
The KM#1239 attribution places this firmly within Niue's extensive commemorative series of the period.
