| 正面描述 | The obverse depicts a stylized architectural view of the Zadar Forum or a prominent civic building in Zadar, rendered in relief at center. Above the building, the Yugoslav state emblem — a five-pointed star surmounting a torch encircled by wheat sheaves — appears in the upper field. The bilingual legend 'SFR JUGOSLAVIJA · СФР ЈУГОСЛАВИЈА' curves along the upper periphery in both Latin and Cyrillic scripts. The denomination '250' appears prominently in the lower field, flanked by the currency designations 'ДИНАРА · DINARA · DINARJEV · ДИНАРИ' in the four official Yugoslav languages. The date '1978' and the city name 'ZADAR' are inscribed in the right field. |

Yugoslavia hosted the Mediterranean Games in Split in 1979, and this commemorative was struck the prior year as part of the lead-up series — a common Yugoslav practice of issuing coins before the event itself. The National Bank produced several denominations tied to Split, a city whose Roman infrastructure, particularly Diocletian's Palace, made it an internationally legible choice for the Games over more industrially developed Yugoslav cities.
