Obverse description The national coat of arms of Suriname occupies the central field, supported on either side by two indigenous figures (natives) in traditional posture. The shield displays the distinctive quartered design incorporating a ship and a royal palm tree. A ribbon below the supporters bears the Latin motto JUSTITIA PIETAS FIDES. The legend SURINAME appears below, and the entire device is encircled by a decorative laurel and palm wreath.
