250 000 Marks

The Polska Krajowa Kasa Pożyczkowa was a wartime creation — established under German occupation in 1916 to manage currency in the territories stripped from Russian control — that outlasted its original purpose by several years. By 1923 it was issuing notes in the hundreds of thousands of marks simply to keep pace with one of the more severe hyperinflationary collapses in interwar Europe. The Polish mark lost virtually all value before stabilization; this denomination, enormous by any prewar measure, was effectively small change by the time it circulated.

The PKKP was wound up in 1924 when the złoty replaced the mark at a rate of 1,800,000 marks to one złoty.
