| Reverse description | Christ in Majesty standing facing within a pointed mandorla (vesica piscis) formed by a ring of eight-pointed stars, raising His right hand in blessing and holding a book of Gospels in His left. The figure is nimbed with a cruciform halo and rendered in high relief against the starred glory. The Latin votive legend SIT·T·XPE·DAT·Q·TV REGIS·ISTE·DVCAT encircles the design, translating as 'May this ducat be given to Thee, O Christ, who reignest.' The whole is surrounded by a beaded border consistent with Venetian presentation coinage of the late seventeenth century. |
