| Obverse description | At center, the emblem of the Republic of South Ossetia depicted within a beaded inner circle: a snow leopard passant left before a mountain range. The emblem is surrounded by a Cyrillic legend reading 'РЕСПУБЛИКӔ ХУССАР ИРЫСТОН / РЕСПУБЛИКА ЮЖНАЯ ОСЕТИЯ' arranged in a circular band. The denomination '25 ЗÆРИНЫ' appears at the top of the dark polished field, and 'НАЦИОНАЛОН БАНК' at the bottom, both in bold relief. Flanking the central medallion on both sides are decorative rosette ornaments arranged in vertical rows. Below the emblem, the mint mark 'ММД', the year '2024', and the fineness 'Ag 925 31,1' are inscribed in the lower field. |

South Ossetia's coin program is a well-documented anomaly: the territory issues numismatic pieces under the name of its central bank despite lacking internationally recognized sovereignty and operating almost entirely within Russia's monetary orbit, where the Russian ruble functions as the de facto currency. The "25 Zarin" denomination exists purely for the collector market — the Zarin has never circulated as a functional currency.
The North Ossetia–Alania theme is notable friction: that republic is a separate federal subject of Russia, distinct from South Ossetia politically and geographically, connected only by Ossetian ethnic and cultural continuity across the Caucasus range.
