| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse presents a detailed three-quarter perspective rendering of the Church of St. George the Victorious (Уас Стыр Джиуæрджи), an 18th-century stone church of the Alan Eparchy located in Tskhinval, depicted in high relief against a mirrored proof field. The church is shown with its characteristic bell tower surmounted by a cross, arched windows, and finely rendered ashlar masonry. In the upper right field, a small inset icon depicting St. George on horseback slaying the dragon is applied as a separate element, accompanied by the date designation 'XVIII æ.' (18th century) in Latin numerals and Ossetic script. The surrounding circular legend reads '• АЛАЙНАГ ЕПАРХИ. ЦХИНВАЛ •' at the top and '+ УАС СТЫР ДЖИУÆРДЖИ УÆЛАХИЗХÆССÆГЫ АРГЪУАН +' along the left and right borders. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
South Ossetia has no internationally recognized standing as a sovereign state — acknowledged only by Russia, Nicaragua, Venezuela, Syria, and a handful of others — which makes its numismatic output a legal curiosity rather than a conventional national issue. These pieces are produced with Russian financial backing and circulate nowhere in any practical sense, functioning primarily as collector items marketed through Russian channels. The National Bank of the Republic of South Ossetia exists on paper; the coins exist in display cases.
The Church of St. George in Tskhinvali sustained significant damage during the August 2008 war with Georgia.
