| Beschrijving keerzijde | A finely detailed left-facing bust of Anders Johan Sjögren (known in Russian as Andrey Mikhailovich Shögren) occupies the left and central portion of the field, rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished background. Behind the portrait, facsimiles of two of Sjögren's scholarly publications are depicted in low relief: his 'Ossetische Studien' and his 'Осетинская Грамматика' (Ossetian Grammar), the latter with its title page clearly legible. The circular legend along the lower border reads '• ШЁГРЕН АНДРЕЙ МИХАЙЛОВИЧ • 1794–1855' in Cyrillic, recording the subject's name and life dates. |
