| 裏面の説明 | The reverse features a dynamic frosted relief composition evoking the invention of the stirrup in ancient China. In the foreground, two mounted polo players on galloping horses are depicted in vigorous motion, one wielding a mallet, with a ball visible at lower left. In the upper register, a frieze of additional horsemen and a fortified structure evoke a historical cavalcade scene. To the right, an enlarged schematic depiction of an early Chinese stirrup (马蹬) is shown in profile, serving as the thematic focal point. Chinese inscriptions to the right identify the subject and its historical origin, and the denomination 25元 appears along the lower rim. |

China's platinum panda bullion program ran only from 1987 to 1990 and then again briefly in 1993, making this a late outlier in a short-lived series. The program never achieved the commercial traction of the gold or silver panda issues, and mintages were correspondingly low throughout its run.
The 1993 issue was produced as platinum spot prices were recovering from multi-year lows — the metal had fallen sharply in the early 1990s amid post-Soviet market disruptions and softened automotive catalyst demand.
