| Obverse description | Central device depicts the ornate multi-tiered ceremonial gate of Putuoshan (普陀山), the sacred Buddhist island mountain, rendered in fine relief against a mirror-polished field. The architectural structure features traditional Chinese palatial rooflines with upturned eaves arranged symmetrically across three bays. The circular legend 中华人民共和国 (People's Republic of China) arcs around the upper periphery in Chinese characters. Below the gate, the inscription 普陀山 identifies the sacred site, with the date 1995 beneath it in the lower field. |
