Turkey's "Yeni" (New) Lira denomination lasted only from 2005 to 2009, introduced after a redenomination that lopped six zeros off the old lira following decades of chronic inflation that had rendered the currency almost arithmetically absurd. This series of zodiac-themed collector silver pieces belongs to that transitional window — coins that were already carrying an obsolete denomination name before the series had finished production.
