Somalia's numismatic output in the 2010s was largely managed by overseas licensing arrangements, with designs commissioned and distributed by European marketing firms rather than the Benadir Central Bank exercising any direct curatorial role. This "Mythical Creatures" series is a product of that system — a collector-targeted issue with no connection to Somali monetary history or domestic circulation.
Gold-plated copper-nickel at 20 grams puts this squarely in the novelty segment. It never circulated.
