Within the porthole aperture, a full-color enamel or color-printed insert depicts the Golden Hind, the famous Elizabethan galleon commanded by Sir Francis Drake during his circumnavigation of the globe (1577–1580). The vessel is shown under full sail on a calm sea, displaying the St. George's Cross on its pennant and topsail.
