Reverse description The reverse is designed to resemble a ship's porthole with a raised, bolt-studded circular frame rendered in copper-nickel relief, evoking a nautical aesthetic. Within the porthole aperture, a full-color enamel or color-printed insert depicts the Golden Hind, the famous Elizabethan galleon commanded by Sir Francis Drake during his circumnavigation of the globe (1577–1580). The vessel is shown under full sail on a calm sea, displaying the St. George's Cross on its pennant and topsail. Anchor cleats and navigational fittings are engraved on the left side of the porthole surround, enhancing the maritime theme.
