| Obverse description | The Somali national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a heraldic shield bearing horizontal lines and a five-pointed star, supported by two leopards rampant as devisees. A mural crown surmounts the shield, and a ribbon or scroll appears at the base. The Somali-language legend JAMHURIYADDA DIMOQRAADIGA SOOMAALIYA arcs around the upper periphery in Latin script, while the Arabic equivalent legend curves along the lower periphery. |

| Reverse description | A highly detailed, naturalistic depiction of a green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas) swimming rightward occupies the central field, rendered with carefully engraved scute patterns on both the carapace and flippers, against a stylised background of undulating waves. Two small FAO logotype roundels flank the design at the lower left and lower right. The circular legend FAO WORLD FISHERIES CONFERENCE 1983-84 arcs around the upper periphery, while the denomination 25 SOMALI SHILLINGS is inscribed in the lower field below the turtle. |
