The BSP seal was redesigned in 2019 following the central bank's amended charter under Republic Act 11211, which granted the Bangko Sentral expanded authority and altered its mandate language sufficiently to warrant an updated institutional seal. Coins bearing the revised seal began entering circulation as older type-1 pieces remained alongside them — a quiet transition most Filipinos handling change would never notice.
