| 裏面の説明 | The reverse displays a naturalistic rendering of a nutmeg branch (Myristica fragrans), showing rounded fruits with their characteristic aril and accompanying foliage filling the majority of the field. The denomination 'Rp 25' appears in the left field in a stylized script. The plant name 'Buah Pala' (Nutmeg) is inscribed along the lower rim in a decorative blackletter (Fraktur) typeface, identifying the botanical subject and underscoring Indonesia's historic spice trade heritage. |

Indonesia's aluminium small denominations of this period were produced partly to combat the rising cost of maintaining a copper-nickel coinage infrastructure as the rupiah's purchasing power continued to erode through the early 1990s. By the mid-1990s, 25 rupiah could scarcely buy a single piece of penny candy at a Jakarta market stall, and the denomination was effectively abandoned before the 1997–98 financial crisis rendered it completely irrelevant.
