| Opmerkingen |
One of a series of emergency provincial issues produced in 1947 as the Dutch military campaigns — the first "Politionele Actie" launched in July of that year — severed Indonesian republican territory into increasingly isolated pockets. The Lampung Residency, occupying the southern tip of Sumatra, issued its own currency precisely because normal supply lines from the central republican administration in Yogyakarta had become unreliable.
Locally printed under rudimentary conditions, these Tandjungkarang notes are among the more obscure of the regional republican emissions and survive in small numbers. Paper quality was inconsistent across the run.
