| 表面の説明 | The national coat of arms of the Republic of Seychelles occupies the central field, featuring a quartered shield bearing a coco-de-mer palm tree, a giant tortoise, and sailing ships, flanked by two rearing marlins as supporters. Above the shield, a stylized hand holding a coelacanth fish serves as the crest. A scroll below the shield bears the motto legend FINIS CORONAT OPUS in raised Latin lettering. The circular legend REPUBLIC OF SEYCHELLES arcs along the upper periphery, while the date 1993 appears in the lower field, flanked by raised dots. |

This piece commemorates the 1742 expedition led by Lazare Picault, dispatched from Mauritius by Bertrand-François Mahé de La Bourdonnais to assess the uninhabited islands for French strategic interest. Picault returned again in 1744, and it was that second voyage which produced the first detailed survey. France formally claimed the islands in 1756 — naming the main island Mahé — though permanent settlement didn't follow until 1770.
The 1993 issue is part of Seychelles' broader commemorative silver program marking early colonial contact milestones ahead of the nation's independence anniversary cycle.
