Beschrijving voorzijde Right-facing draped bust of President James Mancham, engraved in high relief with fine detail to the hair and beard, occupying the central field. The circumferential legend REPUBLIC OF SEYCHELLES arcs around the upper periphery in bold raised Latin letters. The portrait is rendered in a naturalistic, portrait-medal style characteristic of engraver Michael Rizzello.

Aanvullende informatie

Seychelles gained independence from Britain in June 1976, making this 1977 Silver Jubilee issue a curious artifact — the jubilee being celebrated is Elizabeth II's, for a nation that had been independent for less than a year when she reached her 25th regnal year. The Central Bank was itself newly established, having only come into existence at independence.

KM#38a designates the proof striking, distinguished from the circulation issue by its .925 fineness.
