| Reverse description | Two facing doves in high relief occupy the central field, their beaks joined at the centre as they jointly suspend a decorative pendant formed by the interlaced cypher 'S' for Sophie. Above the doves, a crowned and interlaced royal cypher combining the initials 'E' and 'S' is prominently displayed. Four wedding bells are arranged symmetrically in the field, two to each side of the doves, evoking a celebratory nuptial theme. The commemorative legend THE WEDDING OF THE PRINCE EDWARD & MISS SOPHIE RHYS-JONES curves along the upper periphery in an elegant script, while the denomination 25 RUPEES is inscribed at the base of the field. The design is executed in finely detailed relief against a deeply mirrored proof surface. |
