| Additional information |
Seychelles punched well above its weight at the 1996 Atlanta Games, sending a small delegation that included sprinters and swimmers — athletes from a nation of fewer than 75,000 people competing against the largest Olympic field ever assembled to that point, with 197 nations represented. The coin was issued a year ahead of the Games, a common practice among smaller issuing authorities whose commemorative programs were timed to the collector market rather than the event itself.
