| 表面の銘文 | श्री ५ महाराजाधिराज ज्ञानेन्द्र बीर बिक्रम शाहदेव राज्यारोहण २०५८ जेठ २२ |
| 裏面の説明 | Central design features the traditional Nepalese royal arms — a combined symbol of crossed Khukuri daggers and a pagoda, set within an ornate lotus-petal border in relief. Surrounding the central device is a multi-lobed decorative frame with repeated Devanagari script reading 'Shri' arranged in a floral pattern. The denomination 'पच्चीस रुपैयाँ' (Twenty-Five Rupees) and the issuer name 'नेपाल' (Nepal) are inscribed within the inner field below the central device. |

Gyanendra's first accession in 2001 followed the royal massacre of June 1 that year, in which Crown Prince Dipendra shot and killed nine members of the royal family — including King Birendra — before turning the gun on himself. Dipendra was declared king while comatose and died three days later, making him the only monarch in Nepali history to reign unconscious. Gyanendra, his uncle, inherited the throne under circumstances with no modern parallel.
This commemorative was issued by Nepal Rastra Bank to mark that accession — a politically fraught decision given ongoing public skepticism about the massacre's true circumstances.
