The Government of Mauritius series of the early 1950s was issued under direct Crown authority rather than through a local central bank — Mauritius wouldn't establish the Bank of Mauritius until 1967. Bradbury Wilkinson, operating from their New Malden facility in Surrey, handled much of the British colonial note work during this period, and the quality of their intaglio printing was generally consistent across the range.
P#29 is one of the scarcer denominations from this short-lived series, which was superseded following independence. The single-watermark security was already considered minimal by mid-1950s standards, even for colonial issues.
