| Obverse description | The arms of the Republic of Seychelles are displayed in the centre of the field, depicting a shield bearing a coco-de-mer palm tree above an Aldabra giant tortoise, supported by a sailfish to the left and a white-tailed tropicbird to the right, with a scroll below bearing the motto FINIS CORONAT OPVS. The curved legend REPUBLIC OF SEYCHELLES arcs around the upper periphery, flanked by two raised dots at the lower sides, with the date 1997 inscribed in large numerals at the bottom.
