Aanvullende informatie

Saint Trifon's monastery in Vyatka — present-day Kirov — was founded around 1580 by Trifon of Vyatka, a monk of peasant origin who secured a land grant from Ivan the Terrible himself. It became the most significant Orthodox institution in the region and served as a center of resistance during the Time of Troubles. This coin belongs to Russia's long-running series of architectural monuments struck in large-format silver, a program that began in the 1990s and has produced hundreds of regional issues of varying collector interest.

The monastery survived Soviet anti-religious campaigns in heavily damaged form; its main cathedral was used as an archive.
