| 裏面の説明 | The reverse depicts a detailed panoramic view of the architectural ensemble of the Saint Nikolas (Nikolsky) Monastery at Staraya Ladoga, rendered with fine relief against a frosted field. The composition is enhanced by a mirror reflection of the monastic buildings upon the water surface in the foreground, creating a symmetrical scenic effect. The legend НИКОЛЬСКИЙ МОНАСТЫРЬ (THE SAINT NIKOLAS MONASTERY) arcs along the upper rim on the matted field, while the inscription СТАРАЯ ЛАДОГА (STARAYA LADOGA) appears along the lower rim. |

Issued under the Bank of Russia's long-running commemorative program celebrating Russian Orthodox architectural monuments, this piece honors the St. Nicholas Monastery at Staraya Ladoga — one of the oldest surviving monastic complexes in Russia, with foundations traceable to at least the 12th century. Staraya Ladoga itself predates Novgorod as a major northern settlement and served as an early Viking-era trading post along the Volkhov River route.
The 25-rouble large-format silver issues of this period were struck at the Moscow Mint (MMD) to proof standard with frosted devices against mirror fields.
