| Reverse description | A richly detailed scene from Sergei Prokofiev's ballet «Romeo and Juliet» occupies the central field, depicting costumed figures in a dramatic composition. Above this scene rises the iconic neoclassical façade of the Bolshoi Theater, surmounted by the quadriga, with the commemorative numeral «225» denoting the theater's anniversary. The upper rim legend reads «БОЛЬШОЙ ТЕАТР» (BOLSHOI THEATER), while the lower rim bears the inscription «РОМЕО И ДЖУЛЬЕТТА» (ROMEO AND JULIET). |

| Additional information |
Issued to mark the 225th anniversary of the Bolshoi Theatre, this coin was struck at a moment when the institution's future was genuinely uncertain — post-Soviet funding collapses had left the company in serious financial difficulty through the 1990s, with the main stage requiring structural repairs so extensive that full closure for reconstruction was already being discussed. That closure eventually came in 2005 and lasted six years.
